Number two: it’s a privilege, not a right.

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

I guess, “it’s a privilege, not a right” isn’t really accurate.  Probably more accurate would be:  “Number two:  It’s gonna happen.”  At some point there was an issue with graffiti in one of the “shitcans” – er, modular human waste facilities?  Whatever, this note has been taped to the wall for a couple of months, I just now got around to snapping a photo for your enjoyment.

A photo a day: Day One

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

In an effort to document my oncoming baldness and inspired by Don the Head:  I’m taking a photo of myself every morning, and uploading it to the site.  Day one, unfortunately for you, was taken just after I woke up.  Sorry.

Retroactive Stop-Loss Pay – Maybe?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

For those of us that have been stop-lossed since September 11th, 2001 – we may be getting a one-time payment for our “inconvenience”.  I haven’t looked into the details of who/what/how far back they’re paying out, those are the details I was able to get from the retroactive stop-loss website.  For those that were stop-lossed after 9/11/01 and gave all – the Army has the payment website setup to allow you to retrieve your spouses / sons / daughters pay.  There’s a reason I mention that… (more…)

My friend Jimmy opened a bar last year called The Waiting Room – and it’s the nicest bar in North-Central County, hands down.  The owners (Jimmy and Shannon) and incredibly nice folks who always have time to talk to you.

Being in Iraq this last year I wasn’t able to get them anything for their one year anniversary of being open.  There’s always the $340.47 joke – but that was spur of the moment and it wouldn’t do to make that their one year of business present.  But my alarm clock this morning and my recent penchant for viking helmets have given me a fantastic idea.
